How to Install TRAC 69310 Bilge Pump

Mounting

  • Remove strainer base from pump body by depressing the tabs on each side of pump and slide base off.
  • Install strainer base with stainless steel screws.
  • Insert pump in strainer base making sure tabs lock in place.

Plumbing

  • Rotate the outlet fitting so it is pointing upward. Tighten outlet connector nut (hand tight).
  • You must route the hose continuously rising from the pump to the Thru-Hull fitting. The hose should run as short as possible.
  • Attach all hoses with stainless steel hose clamps.

Electrical

  • Use 16 Gauge marine-grade tinned wire.
  • Connect brown wires as noted below.
  • Black (-) wire is negative and connects to the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Install a 5 amp fuse in the brown wire as near as possible to the battery.

Trac Automatic Bilge Pumps can be wired one of (3) three ways. A 3-position (AUTO/OFF/MANUAL) panel switch is recommended. You may also install with a 2-position (ON/OFF) switch or no panel switch.

3-Position Panel Switch (AUTO/OFF/MANUAL)

The ON position is a momentary ON, meaning the switch has to be held in the ON position to test the pump or make it run for a few seconds. As the switch is released, it springs back to the OFF position.

The AUTO position is where the pump normally operates. In this position, the pump’s internal float switch makes the pump turn ON and OFF as the water rises and falls.

  • Wire Connections
    • Black wire to battery negative terminal.
    • Brown wire with White Stripe to the switch ON terminal.
    • Brown wire to the switch’s AUTO terminal.

2-Position Panel Switch (ON/OFF)

When using the 2-position switch, the pump is in AUTO mode when the switch is ON. When ON, the pump has power, so if approximately 2” water enters the bilge, the pump will turn on automatically.

When the switch is OFF, power is interrupted to the pump and it will not turn on when water is present.

  • Wire Connections
    • Black wire to battery negative terminal.
    • Brown wire with White Stripe is not used and should be routed with the other brown wire above high water level.
    • Brown wire to the switch’s ON terminal.

No Panel Switch

When using no switch, the pump is in AUTO mode when wired to a power source. If approximately 2” water enters the bilge, the pump will turn on automatically and off when the pump begins to suck air.

  • Wire Connections
    • Black wire to battery negative terminal
    • Brown wire with White Stripe is not used and should be routed with the other brown wire above high water level.
    • Brown wire to the battery’s positive terminal.

  • Propeller replacement in an amazing turn round time.

    ★★★★★
"On a job in the wilds of Lincolnshire and the workmen on the pontoon hit the propeller on their self-propelled pontoon on rocks and other debris, it was chewed up to less than half the working diameter and one blade was broken in half. A phone call to Specialist Small Craft had a replacement propeller despatched almost immediately and it was with us the following morning. FANTASTIC SERVICE plus the knowledge and experience of the team at Specialist Small Craft is second to none. "
